29 Apr 2018 - Announces the Applicants that are Prequalified for Ibri II Solar IPP (Tender 21/2017)

In line with Oman’s vision to diversify fuel sources through the use of clean energy for power generation, Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC (“OPWP”), a member of Nama Group, announced in December 2017 the launch of the first large utility scale solar PV independent power project (IPP) in Oman. The Request for Qualifications (RfQ) for the development of Ibri II Solar IPP was issued on 28 December 2017 and Statements of Qualifications (SoQs) were received from 28 Applicants on 22 February 2018 in response to the RfQ. The high number of applicants reflects the continued interest and trust in the Oman power sector which sets fairness, transparency and economic purchase as key pillars of its structure and framework.

OPWP is currently working to finalise the Request for Proposals (RfP) which will soon be issued to the above listed prequalified applicants upon receipt of the relevant approvals.

08 Apr 2018 - Request for Qualification Leading to the Development of a new Clean Coal Independent Power Project (IPP) at Duqm, Sultanate of Oman

In line with Oman’s vision to diversify fuel sources, OPWP is planning to develop a clean coal fired independent power project (Project). The Project is planned to have a capacity of 1,200 MW and to be located at Duqm, which is around 530 km from Muscat to the south

28 Mar 2018 - developing the addition of new water desalination capacity

Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC (“OPWP”) is developing the addition of new water desalination capacity of approximately 300,000 m³/day (66 MIGD)  to be located at Al Ghubrah. OPWP announced on 5 February 2018 the launch of the qualification process for developers through the Request for Qualification (“RFQ’’) document. Statements of Qualifications (SoQs) were received from 11 Applicants on 18 March 2018 in response to the RfQ.
